The indicators are on the same circuit as the flasher bulbs. They should only light with the flashers and definitely should not be on when the ignition is turned on.

make sense then as to why my indicators are on. all my signals are on so the indicators are on.
another question. should i be able to wire the lights up so that they are just turn signals, and not running lights for the front??

yep, they are two separate positive leads at the front blinkers. One hot, one switched.

The 2 front lights are mounted to brackets ground the housing of the lights to the frame.
The front lights have 2 positive wires, one that goes to the back that supplies power to the rear blinkers.

The 2 rear lights housing are grounded to the frame. With 1 wire connected to the front for power. The other wire is a ground that doesnt seem to make a difference if its grounded or not.

The turn signal indicators stay on with the key on.
And on the flasher relay one wire tests a constant hot, and the other wire turns on and off with the turn signal switch.

everything is order from the left top row to the right.

here are the lights that i am trying to hook up

Front indicator lights

front blinkers

rear blinkers

me and my buddy are stumped so everyones help is greatly appreciated!

Those two-wire front blinkers caught my eye, are you sure the fronts are dual-filament lights? Sounds more like the two wires are not positive, but one being hot, one being a ground. Usually, with a dual-filament light, the blinkers will be three-wire, primarily because there is no direct ground through the frame on the front end and must be wired to a ground. This would explain your problem, the flasher is not seeing a circuit due to the lack of a ground to the front signals and they'd behave like there isn't any flashers connected at all.

The stock lights were dual fitment. But the new lights I bought are only single fitment. At the time I bought them I didn't know the difference. Since it doesnt bother me that they are single fitment and won't turn on for driving lights how do I wire them up. I just want signals. Lol. I dont care if they don't come on like they originally did when stock

Here's a link to the wiring diagram in KZr's FILEBASE:

Inside the headlight nacelle, the wires to each front signal light consist of black/yellow ground, blue running light, and green or grey blinker light.
Just leave the blue wires disconnected.

Under the seat on top of the rear fender should be connectors for similarly colored wires to the rear signal lights. Blue isn't to either rear blinker.

Good Fortune! :)

What Patton says is correct, but also you can remove the headlight and gain access to the bucket, you'll probably see some orphan "female" plugs, by metering each wire with the ignition on, you should be able to find the running light wire, which will be constant hot with the key on. The signal wire will only go hot when you hit the signal. So, when you hit the turn signal switch left, find the wire that energizes only at that time, and same on the right. Then, just hook one of your new light wires to that wire (try to identify the center pole wire that articulates with the bottom tip of the bulb socket) to that wire and the other to the ground wire, which you'll probably see as a Black/Yellow and possible having two connector spots on it.

if u look at the pictures i posted on the first page, i do in fact have a blue wire in the front. so i just leave that one unplugged? and then do i connect the black/white wire from the aftermarket blinkers to something? and if so what wire.

also in the back i dont have a blue wire. i have a gray wire,on the aftermarket blinkers i have a black wire, and a black/white wire.

Difficult to see from the pictures, but is there only one single wire into each aftermarket light?

Very easy to figure out. ground your test light turn your left signal on stick probe in the connector for any and all available wires when the test light flashes like a turn signal thats what your white/black or hot wire goes to.
mark that and then turn right side on and repeat

if you dont have a test light use your old turn signal but make sure you ground it.
