First of all, you should fill out your profile indicating what bike you have or please do so when you ask a particular question. Coils changed from bike to bike and year to year. Very few of them are interchangeable. Also it will depend on what ignition is in the bike. I doubt very much that the coil from the Yamaha will work. Coils have different internal resistances and must be matched with the ignition.

Make sure that it is a 78 and not a 77. If the bike is made in July it might be a 77. Give us the VIN and I can look it up in my book. If you wish you can PM me the VIN if you don't want to advertise it.

that is a dyna coil and you most likely would need to search e-bay for a matcher...they do sell by them selves sometimes....someone here might donate or sell you one...or you could go and try and score a set of stock coils for cheaper.....you may want to remove the timing cover on the right(as you sit) smaller side of the engine...often folks will run an after market ignition and rotor and a picture will help big time for folks to steer you towards getting the rights coil/coils....a picture inside the timing cover should be your next move imo....

Considering the look/condition of that coil, and the importance of ignition. I would pick-up a "set" of coils.
If that bike is a 78/79, then it has points style ignition and you can use these:
Heres the link: Z1 Enterprises
They're not very expensive for coils, and will work just fine and save you headaches and guessing in the future.
If the bike ignition has benn modified (Dyna S, etc.), then you can still use these coils, but a better match would be a new set of Dyna coils, but they start @ $140.
Good luck.

PS. THE VERY FIRST THING you need is a good service manual before you buy anything else! Part of regular maintenence absolutely required for these machines is to remove the valve cover and check the valve-to shim gap on the cylinder head. There is a huge maintenence chapter that must be completed before attempting to move the bike into service.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationWhat kind of ignition do you have? Look under the right points cover and post a picture. This is a 3-Ohm coil and I am presuming that someone has already took the time to install a Dyna ignition. Here is a brand new matching coil to yours. the price is pretty good because you do not have to buy two of them.
