find and use left hand drill bits they are the bomb diggity for removing stripped out screws and if they don't quite do it try vise grips

I think what I would do if a plate mount screw head was stripped would be to cut the head(s) off and remove the plate, cut a slot in the screw using a Dremel/cut off wheel and then tap it with a hand impact driver flat bladed bit.

The screws that hold these plates are M5 JIS with .8 pitch. The slots are not the same as an SAE (or metric) phillips head screw... they are frequently stripped for that reason as folks don't have JIS screwdrivers. Try a place that repairs copying machines for these screwdrivers... most are #1 or #2. The #3 screws don't strip with a #3 phillips head driver. There are no JIS impact driver bits that I have found, unfortunately.

Finally got the old girl running with the new Dyna and coils. I am surprised that Dyna keeps producing this without fixing the timing issue. I also had to slot the plate to get to the F marks. It would do it with the coils slid to the FAR left spots but as OMR said one of the screws is barely 50% on the pickups slot so not real comfortable with that. maybe not enough people have complained.

Well it could also be due to the difference in the timing advance unit.... Thanks Jeff @ Z1...

I also associated mine to the camshafts I installed where most of the Dyna units are probably designed are stock camshaft configurations...

No big deal, just slot her, rotate accordingly, good to go.... ;)

Question for you guys. Does the Dyna S bypass the IC ignitor?

Yes. Dyna-S signal wires route to coils. Inside module to coil firing outside plugs 1&4. Right module to other coil firing inside plugs 2&3.

Good Luck! :)

Edit -- Yes. Dyna-S signal wires route directly to coils. Under points cover, left (rearward) module wires to coil firing outside plugs 1&4. Right (forward) module wires to other coil firing inside plugs 2&3.

Sweet. I've been thinking about ordering on of these so I can clean up some of the wiring around the fuse case and battery.

in case I do upgrade, does anyone have a pair of rear foot pegs they want to trade for an igniter?

Thanks Patton, that pic clarifies things nicely. Hell, I would have been less confused if I had just seen that to begin with and not even looked at any instructions.
