Fresh Start Pilot Jet Size

14 Feb 2026 16:38 - 14 Feb 2026 18:32
#921487
My ZN1100, 1170 engine with fresh top-end (and carbs) is about ready to fire up.

Should I bump up the Pilot Jet size from 20 to 22.5 for the initial start and short run period while the bike is temporarily parked on my porch next week?

Open to suggestions...

I'd start where you have it. It might be a little rich with higher compression and no oil burning.

Sounds good.

Feels like I'm starting over from scratch...

But the adventure will be worthwhile.

How does that parking on the porch go over with the little woman? I know what it's like. My 1989 Hawk Gt is on my porch right now. Ha

When I met my wife, I had a GPz1100-B2 in my living room.  Didn't seem to bother her...so I married her

Wife's happy... 😁

Weather is beautiful today, and this old girl is ready!

Should I start her up, or wait another month?

🤔
I avoid riding with salt on the roads...

Would be a shame to get salt on her, looking stunning

Waiting would allow my enthusiasm for Spring to build a little more.

May be prudent to take the break-in ride right away.

Yeah, I covered it back up.

That keeps my wife from beeping the horn, which helps to preserve the battery.
