It doesn't take 10 minutes. 2 maybe. In reality when you've feathered the choke so it's revving about 1500-2000 you can ride it normally and after a further minute or two close the choke.
All air cooled engines are the same, they have to be or they'd always be overheating in traffic, at lights etc. 
You shouldn't leave them ticking over with no airflow over the cylinders for extended periods either. 


I hear what your saying but I’m telling you what the bikes currently doing.

If it was an air leak I’d be experiencing a lean mixture not rich.
Anyway below is tonight’s plugs after a 60-70 run home from my local bike meet, airscrews 1-1/2 turns out.
If I could resolve the startup issues I would be happy….inlet manifolds are perfect same as air box rubbers.

2, 3 & 4 are lean. Screw your airscrews in 1/8 turn on those three.

Have done... thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'm still amazed dropping the fuel level could make such a vast difference,
