Carlos if the mains are 127.5 then it suggests Jim's carbs were from a "J" - might be worth re-checking all the jets and needles against the chart I posted earlier in the thread (you should be able to harvest the majority of the correct parts for your "K" from the scrap carbs ?)

Wookie, that is sound advice, and what I just did. The needle is actually correct. The right number is there, and the indicated height too. So all clear there.
Main jet is wrong. 122,5 brass jets are already on their way.
Pilot jets are also wrong. Quite a bit larger than the ones originally intended. Have rescued all 4 from the old carbs, but seem to be completely blocked. I may get them new as well, just for peace of mind.
I´m contemplating how to get out those restrictors. Have no clue, really.

Regarding the restrictors, any ideas on what the best course of action for removal be?

Re: 1981 KZ1000J CARB ISSUES NEED ADVICE
02 Jan 2025 15:02If they are pressed in i would just drill them to the same size as the factory restrictors in your original carbs but you could drill and tap them to take a small bolt and use that with a spacer to draw them out .Regarding the restrictors, any ideas on what the best course of action for removal be?
The issue is that you do not know what has been done previously and whilst you would hope the original pressed in factory restrictors are still intact behind them there is the chance that they have been damaged ,drilled out or removed which would mean further work to repair them.
