Correct carburetor mount?

Hey all. New member, First post

I recently bought a '82 GPZ 550 with the TK-22 carbs and I'm trying to get the correct mounting flanges for the carb but I'm finding multiple parts numbers.

These are what I find

16065-1051
16065-1014 w/nipple
16065-1037

and while they all look the same, I'm unsure what the differences are. Aside from the one with the vacuum nipple, of course.

Are these pretty interchangeable with other years of GPZ/KZ550??

The 1982 Kz550H1 (monoshock gpz) did not originally come with Tk22 carbs. They came with Tk26 carbs.

The 1981 Kz550D1 (dual-shock gpz) originally came with the Tk22 carbs.

The intake manifolds for those carbs are not interchangeable.
As per the other thread going right now, you can put Tk22 carbs onto the Kz550H motor using Tk22 manifolds, but that is a modification and requires some cutting etc.

The Tk22 manifolds came with vacuum ports, and are required fro proper syncing and vacuum petcock operation.
The Tk26 carbs had the vacuum ports on the actual carbs themselves.

KZ550 carbs

The 82 should come with CV carbs not the mechanical slide carbs - so make sure you are sure of the carbs you have. If they are the earlier carbs, they should match the link above.

If so, then the 16065-1014 carb holders are correct.

loudhvx is correct, I have the TK26 carbs then. I pulled them off, took them apart, reset the float level, etc and saw the TK. Googled it and found the 22 first lol, my apologies.

Jeff, I;m pretty sure it's an 82. definitely monoshock, bikini fairing, however the title says 1983. But the 83 came with CV carbs, right?

Just to be clear, the TK26's are CV type. In the USA market the GPz550 got CV carbs starting for the 1982 model year.

Based on the bike in your avatar and having the carbs in the above photos, it appears someone put Tk22 carbs onto your 1983 Kz550H2 gpz model. You can identify the 83 model by the black area on the side cover, assuming it is the original side cover. Also, the 1983 model has stripes on the bikini fairing. Earlier years did not.

If you are keeping the carbs with that bike, and you need new manifolds, you should look into that link I posted above. Mcren is doing the exact thing you will be doing.

As a side note, the Tk22 airbox won't fit the 82/83 frame, and the Tk26 airbox boots are too big for the Tk22. I suppose there may be some sort of fabrication that could allow for the Tk22 to use the Tk26 airbox, but I haven't looked into it.

Thats an 83 . You might be easier to find a set of cv carbs that fit the bike .

Before you go much further, check the engine number and see if the engine is the original engine. For someone to fit the TK22's, they either changed engines or carb holders previously.
