Hi
Just finished (allmost) restauration of my old baby and stuck on carb sync. CArbs were adjusted, cleaned and checked. Engine works unstable and with some backfire. I have tool to synchro but do not know the step by step info. So if someone could help me in that matter that will safe my a lot of try.

Some carbs have a lead carb. Mine is #3. You use that one to balance to. Be sure to bench sync them first. The one without the adjustment is the lead carb. Do it in two stages. First at high idle then lower it and do it again. If they all are within the same bars, that's good enough. Depending on the state of tune, (valves, Ign. etc.) you can get them "gnat's ass."

Steve is right carb #3 have no adjustment screw, he is the "master". The other carbs are the "slaves" .
First you have to sync carb #4 with #3.with the right side screw.
Then sync carb #1 and #2 to equal values, independent of the #3 and #4 value. with the left side screw.
After this you have to sync the carb pairs ( #1 and #2 ) with (#3 and #4 ) with middle adjustment screw.for near equal values.
Redo this procedure till you get all values near equal readings.

When you adjust one the others will change too. Do it in small amounts and when you get close, lower the idle and start again. If you haven't checked everything else, syncing the carbs is futile.

And everything eans EVERYTHING. Valve clearance,ignition timing and advance,battery & charging system up to par. Carb synch is nearly the last thing you do. Got fresh fuel? Ethanol free premium is the way to go. It looks like you have the Sucktion -less valve cover. SWEET!!! Those things are rare. I'm running 142.5 mains & the larger pilot jet. It's a little rich at idle, but that's it.

Thanks for service manual link. I bought clymer manual but is not that specific like the original one.
Valve clearence has been adjusted by professional guy, carbs I do myself. New spark plugs, so only carn sync remains. Will come back again to the subject after the "african temperature" in my country drops down a little as today is 36 Celcius degrees in shadow.
Today I got my set for tank cleaning from rost and special corrosion inhibitor and of course special resin lack to cover all.
After couple minutes of firing up my engine yesterday I recognized a few oil drops from gear change lever sealant (have new already). I change sealant in clutch push rod but forgot to change that ones. Also from valve cover (new gasket) I see some "sweat".

Will you pls explain me what is the spark advance? You mean the gap between eelctrodes in spark plugs?

Under the timing cover is the spark advance. If yours has one it should be lubed and move freely. If not fine tuning would be useless.

Yes, I clean it and lubed with PTFE grease, moves extra freely.
