Hi All, I did a forum search but couldn't find anything related to my question. I have a 75 Z1 900 and am trying to set up the carbs. My question is the floats. The right 2 carb floats have different sized disks on them that fit the offset inside the carb. The left 2 carb floats have the same sized, narrower disks. I have to put an extreme bend on the tab on the left floats to get the fuel level correct, and it does not allow much opening of the needle. It almost looks like the left floats are from VM26s.

The part number for my carb floats is supposed to be 16031-024, which of course are discontinued. but even if i could get them, they dont fit in the left carbs. Are there different float part numbers between the right 2 carbs and left 2 carbs on the z1?

Thanks, Scott

They are all the same. I'm running my 28 floats in my 33's. Someone changed them. The 26's are the same as well. The tang should be level and only used for fine adjustments. Bend the arms then the tangs. Make them all the same.
New floats are available here. jetsrus.com/

Or you can get some fancy ones like these.

OK, thanks. I'm going to post a picture tomorrow. I found a picture of a set of 74 carbs and they are different than what I have. I may have some Frankenstein carbs on this bike :( .

The asymetrical floats wont fit in the left carbs, it looks like small pilot jet is on the opposite side of the middle main jet between my left and right carbs...

Sounds like you have 2 floats from an earlier 73/74 set in there. Post pics of the carbs and the floats.

The floats are the same, there's no right or left. Might be wrong carbs.

OK, here are some pics. I ended up setting the float levels with the tube method. I seem to have good travel with the floats, just waiting for new fuel line and i'll put them back on.

Any idea of what these carbs are from? The parts from the Z1 rebuild kit all fit.

Thanks for everyone's help

Scott

Sweet

He wouldn't have those float bowls on all 4 carbs if they were mixed up. He has 75 style carbs
