Hoses from the stock clean air system attached to the left side air suction valve cap and to the right side air suction valve cap.
An air suction valve is commonly referred to as a reed valve.

As far as I know air injection system is a reason for popping on many bikes. That is why people disable them all the time. Maybe plugging is better than connecting hose between tubes.

I don't know what you mean about 'popping'. The reason I got rid of mine is because I didn't like how it looked and I didn't want the additional complication on my bike. All the system actually does is bring in fresh air to mix with the exhaust so that it would pass US emissions requirements. Kind of funny how it worked...same amount of exhaust in the air but the government was happy because it didn't come out over a certain percentage. LOL

Imo, whether you plug them or connect the two hoses together like you did, won't really matter.

The crankcase breather tube does NOT connect to that nipple.

That looks pretty nice...I might go mildly ghetto on it and make one out of black plastic or something. Been looking around my garage for options. :)

I noticed that hose doesn't connect directly inside the airbox as well. So leaving the connection into the bottom will keep it open like you and patton recommended.

Thanks for confirming that the hose doesn't connect directly inside the airbox.

Cleaned up a little and here is my version of the plug for the hole...used one of those folding things you use in drywall as the support inside. I'll heat up and put the tube back on the breather hole too.

Can I use a brass brush to clean off the leftover sealant around the carb holders or will it damage the mating surface for the new ones?

What did you do to the crankcase breather? That hose needs to be attached to the nipple on the round cover.

Maybe use a plastic scraper and your thumb nail to get off the sealant ..... the surface is so small you don't want to scratch it up and Like Nessium says get that bolt outta the vent and attach the hose to it like shown mid way on the first page..... (unless maybe the bolt is only temp to keep junk out)?

OK were all getting excited for nothing..... Just re read and see you will heat up and attach the breather tube back up !!!!!!!
