VM29 smoothbore carbs on 80' kz750E

I understand that messing with the different jets can give me better low speed fuel delivery and idle.
Can anyone tell me what I would need to do to achieve this?
My other option is to sell my mikuni VM29 smoothbores with their K&N filters for some good money, and then buy a new set of carbs better suited to my city riding.
Any recommendations on a good set of aftermarket carbs for the kz750?

I cant remember the jets but they ran great. Youll certainly have to jet them down.
which ones are in them now?

I was thinking about going down to a 22.5 pilot jet and seeing if that solved my issue.
Would I have to change the main jets as well?

If you want to keep the smoothbores I'd pull a float bowl and take an inventory of the jets. Then do some plug chops to judge the mixture condition through various throttle settings. After you gather this information then you make an intelligent decision on what to do regarding the jetting. Jetting by nature is an iterative process. Measure, make a change, measure again, finetune, etc, until you get it right. It takes time, and money for jets.

But man if those are your jets then im sure your wayyyy to rich in the pilots.
Bst thing you an do is pull em apart and see what you have.
I think youll need more like 12.5 - 115 pilots and 110 mains.

I got those jet numbers off this link. Detailing what comes on various models of smoothbores
I'm certain I'm running lean at low speeds due to the plug fowling and then the engine popping. It's totally fine about 3k rpm which leads me to believe the main jet is okay. But I'll pull it apart and check the jet sizes.
Thanks for offering input guys.
