Re: 28mm Mikunis Better Than 29mm Smoothbores?
20 Jan 2016 16:27These are the later 'SS' version of the vm28's, not the 'SC's' of the earliest Z1-900's. I have an early VM28'SC' set, just not a pic of them at the moment. I'm not exactly sure of the actual engine# the change was made during production, however a bit of research wld find it. I've seen so many early-VIN Z1's (restored lol) selling on ebay over the years in the 18K+ range, and have yet to see one with the correct early 'VM28SC' carbs, hmmmmm!...Those carbs would be worth their actual weight in gold for early VIN Z1 restoration purposes (if they can be found). Go figure............................................Mikefloivanus wrote:Rockranch wrote: So I guess that means my "original" 1975 series Z1-900 VM28SS Mikuni's (as produced from the factory!)...would be worth???... About 5 yrs. ago I saw a newly listed set of carbs that the seller advertised as 22 mm smoothbores with a buy it now for 300.00
I looked at all the pics. & knew they were 29s, no such thing as 22's, I clicked on the buy it now & he sent them out within a few hrs.
the next day I get a message from him thru e-bay saying he misrepresented the carbs & when I receive them to send them back & he would reimburse me my money & shipping both ways, I just laughed to myself & replied , I think I can still use them & I'm going to keep them,   so I got them for 300.00 + 18.00 for shipping
