My questions are color coded. I think that something should go to the vaccum petcock. Thanks ahead of time.

Could you please be more specific. Which specifically goes where? There are four yellow. I am not planning on reusing the air induction thing.

Put plugs on three and use one for the petcock.
Have a manual?

I do not have blue on mine. the yellow lines are plugged at #1,#3,and #4 with caps, and #2 receives vacuum from the petcock.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

The blue lines are vents, they usually go above the air cleaner. Manual?

As swest stated, Red is fuel line, blue are overflows, the two vacuum with T fitting are for emissions crap, the other vacuum goes to petcock. If you are eliminating the emissions junk, the two with the T can be removed and need to be capped off, so does the hole in the air box where the emissions stuff dumps into, as well as the two holes on the cam cover. Pickup a factory service manual (it will save a lot of headaches), you can get em from ebay for a decent price.

Blue are not overflow. Blue are bowl vents. They go up and just stay open near the airbox. Do not let them get into turbulent air as that will affect fuel flow by altering bowl pressure.

The overflows are on the bottoms of the bowls.

Red is fuel inlet.

If you are not using the fresh-air-suction system, then cap off three of the yellows. One of the yellows goes to the vacuum petcock.

I have a few manuals in my sig, but not a factory specific manual for the M. However, you can use the factory manuals I have for the 82/83 H1/H2 (gpz) models as they use the same (almost the same) carbs.

Thanks guys. I do have manuals. They are confusing. There are updates for years 82,83,84. They are very hard to find what your looking for and the pictures are terrible. Oh well. Also I have the kz550m ltd model which has been making it harder.

I have a question or maybe just an observation. He said he is not using the vacuum operated crank vent that leads to the air box. Big hose. If he does away with that shouldn't he also use a small crankcase filter so the case vents? I don't think you want to cap that off or leave it open.

Don't fix it until it's broken.
