Am wondering about diameter of fuel line inside and outside?

I looked at Mikuni's site and couldn't find any info www.mikuni.com/fs-carburetor.html

Saw some excellent info on the carbs themselves at various sites but not the fuel line size. I plan on removing my fuel tank in a week or so and may want to replace the fuel lines.

If they are like mine, they're 1/4" at the petcock and 5/16" at the carbs. I had to heat the fuel line to make 1/4" fit but they won't come off. B)

You can usually look at one of the online parts suppliers, then look at the parts list in the carburetor section, then they usually will have the size listed with the part number. I looked up a 1982 KZ1000 and it came back 7.5mm x 12.5mm, and a 1982 KZ750 came back as 7.3mm x 12.5mm. Really? ? They actually used a fuel line 0.2mm smaller on a KZ750. Needless to say you will never find metric size fuel line anywhere in the USA. To convert to inch size 1/4" is 6.35mm, 5/16" is 7.94mm. So 1/4 is too small, 5/16 too large is most cases. Most use
1/4" but it's a tight fit.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

The stock KZ650-C1 fuel line is listed as 6.5mm. For many years I used 1/4" but found it to be a VERY tight fit. A couple years ago I switched to 5/16" and found it to work perfectly, and it's much easier to install and remove. See first link below for a description of exactly what I use.

According to the parts diagram (see second link below) the fuel supply line for the 1983 KZ750-K1 is 7.5mm inside diameter. I would think a 1/4" line might be too tight and that a 5/16" line would work well.

7mm ID fuel line fits perfectly. I greatly prefer OEM grade Japanese motorcycle fuel line because it's not fat like high pressure automotive fuel line and it stretches so you don't need a clamp.

Best line I've found is sold by Suzuki. Order this part number and they send you something like 5' of the stuff in the bag. You can outfit half a dozen bikes. Part# 09352-70103-00B

I use the 1/4" line with spring clamps. Yeah they're tight, no leaks.

Been looking for 7mm fuel line for a while now. Where did you find "like 5' of the stuff"?

Also I notice that no one seems to use silicon fuel line. My son's KZ1000 has been running silicon for 5 years now and a few months ago I had to pull the tank to replace the coils and the silicon fuel line was as flexible as the day it was installed. Now I don't know what kind it was. It looked like surgical 1/4 line and because of it's size was really hard to stretch over the 5/16 fittings because it was so flexible.

Don't fix it until it's broken.

That part number is at Partzilla and their description is 2x200 which is 2 ea 7,8 inch lengths. I'm going to check with the local Suzuki dealer. I know I paid $6 for 1 foot of 7mm hose from the Kawasaki dealer. I thought that was way overpriced at $6 per foot. Partzilla wants $20 (with shipping) for 1.6 feet!

Don't know if you are aware of it but 7mm fuel hose is available for vintage Volkswagens. I'm going to check their price. Of course local parts houses have 5/16 fuel hose for like $1.50 /foot. It's just fatter. Rather have 7mm as that is between 1/4 and 5/16 inch and fits perfectly.

I'll keep searching and post my findings.

Don't fix it until it's broken.

Like I said, order that Suzuki part number and they give you 5' of 7mm ID fuel line. Nice quality stuff. I bought some 7mm line off ebay awhile back and it was shit in comparison to the Suzuki line.

I use Tygon brand 5/16' ID fuel line will fit the BS34's. This is NOT cheap fuel line but stays flexible and will not need to be replaced in 6months to a year. It is not affected by our crappy new fuel, heat or sunlight. Napa carries the stuff, usually in yellow but can be found in clear on eBay and Amazon.
