Seems they used the wrong size flat head. Now it's all mangled. Do I cut a new spot for the flathead?

Dremel with a cut off disc to cut a new slot? Make sure your new slot matches your screwdriver for a nice tight fit. I'd heat the carb body and use a little PB Blaster around the threads too.

Yah I looked. They don't carry any replacements for them. Seems these are hard carbs to find parts for.

I needed a part for some carbs yrs. ago & didn''t see it on their website, so I called them, & they said they didn't have any new ones but they have many old carbs & he said he would check & see if he could find what I was looking for & he would call me back, the next day I got a call back saying he found the part I was looking for, :) , so I would give them a call

Did you try cleaning it out with a guitar string?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI won't disturb them if I don't have to. I ordered reverse drills just for this kind of problem. Should be getting them today. ;)

Just my 2 cents worth. Those left hand drill bits are great for steel screws/bolts but I'm afraid all they will do is drill a hole in that brass jet. If it were my bike I'd try to clean it first with a guitar string, as others have suggested, or grab the top part with some vice grips and try to remove it. I find that once clamped onto the fastener a tap with my hand works better than trying to muscle the screw out.

Now drilling or using the vice grips would be a last resort and ONLY after I have sourced the replacement jet.

Don't fix it until it's broken.

That's why I suggested the guitar string. Some pilot jets have emulators that can get clogged. It has to be removed. All the suggestions above are right. The drills ARE a last resort.

If the guitar string does not do it for you, I would use a small easy out to extract the jet.
