My seat still leaked even after the Q tip method. The needle cleaned up nicely. I took a engineers pencil, shaved it so it would fut into tha seat bore, used fine valve lapping compound and made a new seat. It was that or order a new set but with 33 mm Miks, that's a crap shoot. It worked.

Why?

OK what does spark plugs 1 and 2 have to do with the making sure to keep the bike level?

Seems you are on the wrong fucking post - no one is talking about plugs - this is about carbs
read it properly in the future before you make a brain dead comment

Wow!

I may be wrong, but believe the comment about plugs was related to carbs in that keeping the bike level may reduce the chance of the #1 and/or #2 spark plugs from fouling from too much fuel if the bike is left on the side stand when there is a problem with the float valves and/or petcock. The theory being that the overflow fuel will end up in cylinders 1 & 2 since they are on the low side if the bike is on the side stand. Ed

At no time in this post were problems with plugs mentioned or asked about
I did not make reference to plug problems and i park my bike on centre stand as it may not get ridden for a few days and up to a week occassionly but a dam good idea all the time
Have no idea what they were on about - like i said - READ the post properly !

Deere in the head lights. He shouldn't have this problem at all if he would take the advice given. Sooty plugs on one side is a symptom of those carbs not being set right. Parking on the center stand is good practice if the bike won't be ridden for a while. Gas like water will find it's way in or out given enough time. It can also find it's way into the engine washing out the rings and filling the crank case with gas. The over flows are supposed to prevent this but sometimes they don't. I don't have them on my 33's. When I park the bike in the shed, it's always on the center stand.
