I'm back to square 1 with my '84 KZ550, it runs and all but my carbs needs new jets I tried cleaning them but the pilots are so bad after 24 hours of trying to soak them in these products : Acetone, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, WD-40, a machine that is used to rinse metal parts, I still cannot get my pilot unclogged. I tried to poke it out with a thin wire it won't budge, compressed air doesn't get it out, unless you guys have a suggestion OTHER than banging it with a hammer setting it on fire burning the hell out of it into molten metal please tell me.

Anywhom, I thought a nice carb kit would be nice until I see the price, 40$ for a single carb? Kinda very overpriced don't you think? It's impossible to just find the pilot jet (92064-1055) I found 1 for 30$ each and no, i'm not a really cheap person but that's all crazy overpriced.

If anybody knows somewhere to find at least a pilot jet for a normal decent price please, tell me i'm going crazy.

Thank you, a guy who is about to burn those little parts even thought it'll never melt.

Micro drills are pretty handy for cleaning out your existing jets-might be worth trying- lots of them on ebay and online-like this www.pjtool.com/20pcmicrodrillbitset.aspx...QmDpAOyT0aAs5r8P8HAQ

Last resort - welder tip cleaning wires. The smallest i have fits through nicely - .5 mm but they are not smooth so push the crap through once and leave it at that and then try wire guitar E string to get the rest of it out.
Have also used the very tiniest needle /pin with a small pair of pliers in the past to clean them but this is not recommended in case the needle/pin breaks. None of the products you used would shift that kind of deposit. Tried them as well.

Try an ultrasonic cleaner like they use on jewelry? Might work. Other thing is the old Berryman's Chem Dip for a week. That stuff eats almost anything including your skin.

Thanks guys for all the input! I ended up ordering the 80$ suggested atleast everything will be new in there! Now we patiently wait. and wait some more.

P.S : I tried Acid today so far it's been about 8 hours maybe? and I looked at one of the jets and it's still clogged there, I really can't figure out what in the world got in there but it's bad! My big transport air compressed hooked right on to it can't push air through it! Crazy what can happen after being parked like 20 years in a shed.

I'd stay away from acid. It will eat away the brass and can ruin the tiny orifice you are trying to clear. If the clog is old fuel, the only acid that will dissolve it will likely eat the brass faster. What is needed is a strong solvent that will dissolve dried hydrocarbons and leave the brass alone.

If the clog is something else like a tiny chunk of rust or sand, chemistry may not be the answer. That's when the jet cleaner or guitar string comes into play. Be very careful, the hole is tiny and the brass is soft.

I wouldn't use a torch tip cleaner or micro drill because you can unintentionally make the holes larger than you want. (.002 larger on a pilot jet is quite a bit) I use pin gages starting at .011 and work my way up in size until its you can feel the gage is too big. This set goes from .011-.060 and can be bought from a discount machine tool supply for a reasonable price.

Over 30 years with z1's, Currently down to only one 75, a j model dragbike, and 2 KZ1000 dragbikes.

Different dealers will sell jets at decent prices. My local Yamaha dealer sold me pilot jets for $2.99 where the Kawasaki dealer wanted $12.99. I passed and gave them a bad review.
