So I have an 83 kz650(h3 csr?), and from what I gathered the carbs are mikuni bs32. Why is it so hard to find bowl drain screws for these things?

While cleaning the carbs I noticed the diaphragm needle only has one notch. Is this normal? I'm guessing maybe I can buy an adjustable one along with larger jets?

Also, I know my main jet is the one in the center. But where is my pilot? Do I have to drill out a cover somewhere?

Those are CV carbs. They are preset. You might try jetsrus on line to see if there are compatible ones from a earlier year or years that will fit. They are good for altitude changes mileage and smog. Rejetting shouldn't be a issue unless you have a big bore kit and or high lift cam. The pilot should be next the main jet. Follow the passage way from the idle mixture screw to the float bowl. If you go to that site and they have yours listed you may be able to see what it looks like.

Alright, I didn't realize the cv carbs didn't have that adjustment. I'm running 4-1 exhaust and pod filters, so I can only assume I'm going to be a touch lean.

There's carb kits. See if z1enterprizes has them. If not see if you ca get some jets. Maybe someone else has some suggestions.

Is the brass cap above the jet removable?

I still can't find anywhere that sells the bowl drain screws I need. They're kind of long and tapered with an o-ring.

Pods on the CV carbs? Did your bike come with an airbox? Have you ridden the bike much yet? Ed

Yes the brass cap is removable, and you will find the Pilot Jet in there, O rings on cap may need to be replaced if cap doe not go back in snug. You can buy bowl drain screws at siriusconinc.com.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

My 79 750 twin had adjustable needles (five slots) but later years with same carbs did not. I always assumed it was because of emission regulations.

Now, when I remove the brass cap, does it have to be replaced with a new one or does the original fit back in?

I suspect it isn't needed. There should be a hole just above it, if so, it's there to prevent tampering just like the needles and mixture screws. Gotta love them liberals. Sure, I'll buy a grocery bag for ten cents that isn't worth two sheets of toilet paper just to make things better.

You don't have to replace the plug with a new one. Just replace the o-ring on it.

 Is the plug needed? The BS34's utilize plugs over the pilot jets too, and I often wonder the answer. They are a pita to deal with, but if not necessary to be there, I may choose to leave them out next time I jet...
