I was going to say that sounds like a vacuum leak but with straight pipes and pods, I have no idea. I recall the pilot jets are available is size up to 60 (?)Schmeck wrote: Been alittle bit but I am almost there. Got my jets in today and I think my 55 pilot jet is too small I started it up and it didn't want to run smooth without choke on . It idles slightly under 2000rpm with choke on. If I turn it off the idle goes to 3000 and won't come down.
I doubt it. But you could try going one colder (B7ES) and see what happens. Worst it could do is start fouling plugs.Schmeck wrote: On another note I rode around a few miles with the choke on and it seemed to ride ok other than the high idle. Can I put a colder plug in to fight the lean condition ? It would probably be a good idea to prevent possible engine overheating .

I believe it should not because the slides should be all the way down. See the graph taken from the service manual. The main jet doesn't kick in until about 1/4 throttle opening ballpark.Schmeck wrote: I have b7es in already . My local zone store doesn't carry b6es unfortunately unless I go with the resistance plug with the r in the number . Does clip position affect idle ?

I don't remember the conversion for that. I do remember people posting that hole diameter isn't the only factor but also how the end of the hole is radiused over affects flow. The pilot jets are actually pretty cheap, I recall they are about $3 each and everybody sells them. I think the part type is BS30-96 if my memory works today.Schmeck wrote: Anyone know what size a #60 jet would be in drill bit sizes? I think I have the original pilot 45 jets that I could drill out alittle just to find my size .
