So from an earlier post I asked about pods. A lot of you don't like them and I understand. But this is a toy for me and I like to play. Besides, I enjoy tuning. Anyway, I slapped them on and MAN, wow. I expected lean but not racing to 4k, haha! So after playing with air and throttle and vacuum she's really close to perfect with an improvement in jumping off the line

I still have a little backfiring and coughing. I heard someone say that there is no point in changing the jets on an LTD, which I thought was odd. Thoughts?

Also, since the change she has a much more noticeable intermittent surging.

Thanks in advance guys

Just now was spraying a little carb cleaner over the filters and the engine didn't respond to it until I hit #1 and it surged to 4k and hung there for a little while

Main jet on an ltd is 125. I changed it to 130 from the dynojet kit and it still doesn't seem to be enough, next step is the 136 the kit comes with. I am still having some issues with the bike pulling above 5500rpm but I had the same problem before pods...

Ok, you're not gonna believe this. What fixed my issue was throttle. Weird huh? I had to back down and up a few times and that was where my problem got fixed. Unless you want to believe that the KZ750 LTD has a soul.

She has terrier-like response in every situation. With stock jets :woohoo:

I know, right? Now the one thing I failed to mention makes even less sense. The carbs are at least 2 full turns out. go fig

Soooo many folk (myself included) have the same thing going on! Mine doesn't do it all the time. So by just being logical, I conclude this; It's intermittent. So it's less likely that something is adjusted incorrectly. Also, by putting it in gear stops it. So perhaps something from the carbs or even the throttle cable is sticking....?

I don't want to just leave with guesses, so I did a search here. This is the link to the topic. You should probably start with the 2nd or 3rd posting. I'll read them later when I have more time. Good luck!

Hey there Calico,
I also have an 81 kz750 ltd and I'm looking into takingoff the airbox and switching to pods and possibly jetting it for a little more uumff :woohoo:

Would you recommend doing this? I keep hearingit is a nightmare but it has to work with the right tuning B)

I just want more powwwa

I'm running stock everything at the moment with a mac 4-1 to be here very very soon.
I wanna let her breath!!!

Sorry to burst that bubble, but pods aren't going to give you more power. Check the following test done by experts. They spent a lot of dyno time trying to do just that, but they had no real success. You may be especially interested in the last 3 paragraphs if you have CV carbs. Ed
