There should be an ID stamped on the flange below the choke lever. Another way to help ID them, if they are the stock carbs and still set that way, is to see what needle and jets they currently have in them.

If a slide gauge isn't available, fashion a thin strip 28mm long from a business card, and see whether the strip fits horizontally inside the carb bore without bending.

1979 KZ1000B3...AKA 1979 LTD1000 was a transitional model in that somewhere during the production run, Kawasaki switched from Mikuni VM26SS to VM28 pumpers. So, both carb types are correct for the model. Those pictured are Mikuni VM28 pumpers.

Looks like 26 pumpers from that measurement.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I just got a 1980 kz1000 shaft with vm28's. under the accel pump, carb 2, there are two nipples. I know one is for emptying the bowl but not sure what the other one is for. Is it for vacuum for the fuel petcock?

If it's pointing sideways it feeds to the bowl next to it. If it's pointing down, it's the overflow. If it has a large screw in it, it's a drain.

Should be something like the rebuilt ones that can be found here:

I see the two nipples you are refering to. Trying to dig up the tubing diagram from Kawasaki.com

Not finding it. I'm really not sure why there are two right next to each other - someone else will know:

Yes you cannot really see it from the diagram. But there are two nipples down there near the accel pump on the bottom of carb 2. It looks like the vacuum is supposed to be from the nipple from carb 3 tube #45 but mine is not there. It's sealed or broken. I'll have to take a Closer look. So I guess I can just grab vacuum from carb sync nipple on the rubber holders that go between the carb and engine.
Thanks for the help
