So, (and sorry for the delay, I had family in last weekend) I took them back a part re checked the floats and set the air mixture screws to one turn. Guess what? she idled. Poorly, but she idled. I was so relieved. It has been a rough week so this was a highlight. I now have carb three or four flooding. I am going to take them apart here in a bit and then bench test them. Then I need to start adjusting them. Riding this bike is getting so close. Thanks for everyone's help, I appreciate it. Maybe I can ride down to the Corsa Motoclassica next weekend.

Side note for everyone, The float height is different for late model BS34's. That must have been the difference. I found it in one of the supplements for The Kawasaki manual.

Adjust the level of Fuel in the bowls with a clear piece of tubing hooked to the carb bowl drain, screw open, petcock on "Prime" or a bench fuel flow. Clear tube up along the body of the carb, with the carb in a normal attitude and get the fuel to equal in all 4. Should be just below the bowl to body gasket, within 3mm. Idle screws about 1.5-2.0 turns out generally. If out of this range, you may have a vacuum leak, or plugged Idle circuit fuel or Air jet.

Are you SURE about that? I thought it was "the bottom of the carb body" which includes the flange that goes below the gasket level? My thinking is that otherwise, the setting would be "3mm within top of carb bowl".

Make sure those Unipods dont cover up the air holes in the carb, some of them do. Mine will barely run at all without the airbox on. I just got done installing them back on the bike today. How are you synching the carbs when it will barely run ? I do mine at 2000 RPM, that way they dont bounce around so much

What kind of shape are the rubber carb holders?

One more thing that nobody else has mentioned...

Don't give up, don't lose hope.

I can tell you from experience, you might feel like an idiot, but once you get to ride this bike, that turns to unbridled elation.
