1980 Z1 Carb conversion help needed.

We used Clevis Pins to plug the injector holes with a little RTV around the lip where it seals to the head. Then cut up some small pieces of steel and drilled holes to make plates to screw down on top of the clevis pins.

As for the intake manifolds I bought mine brand new from Z1 Enterprises which was the cheapest I found them new. I would not buy used since I think I only paid 60 or 70 for a brand new set. Used they could be cracked etc. and not seal good and then you will be just wasting time and money.

I had to use files to bring the mounting holes in closer on the new manifolds to make them fit on my Z1.

As for wiring mine was literally separate. I haven't disconnected any of the EFI wiring it's all tied up and out of the way. Bike runs good and strong. Still need to sync the carbs but I re-jetted them and it seems to have good power and pull through the RPM's now.


The only issue I have run into with mine is that gas will pour out of the overflow on a few of the bowls randomly. Sometimes while the bike is running and sometimes while it's sitting. If I turn the petcock off none will come out. We had adjusted the floats but it could be that they are not correct. Most of the information I could find about adjusting float height had people using a special tool. Very few had the measurements.

You could try and polish the float needle seats with a Q tip and brasso. It will do wonders. I put the Q tip in a drill. Roy

I'm thinking maybe some crud got in there also. Hopefully that is all that is causing the problem.

What makes it worth so much? Are the old ones like that hard to come across? Pretty sure it dates back to around 1980 when my dad first bought the bike. Has an eagle or something and kawasaki on the back of it. I don't care too much for or against it but my girlfriend seems to like it

Is this a good rule of thumbs on a 550 too?

It is just a period correct sissy bar. I have seen that type bring 250 on eBay. I sold one for 150. Roy

Wow. Good to know. Do you know anyone that would be interested in any of the working EFI parts from the bike? I have everything. The only part that was a problem was the computer. It would stop sending a signal to the injectors to squirt sometimes.

I thought about keeping the stuff but don't plan to ever sell the bike so I really will have no use for any of it.

Hi, I am looking at intake manifolsd from a 1995 1100 Kawasaki which I am assuming will fit the 34 mm carbs I bought to put on my 81 GPZ 1100. Can someone confirm?

Bob, It would probably work better if you started your own post . You would probably get better results that way.
