i just looked... NONE of the carbs have that air jet! could there be a reason for this?

the guy i got the parts bike from (found out later it had smoothbores on it) said he bought it from a dealer...perhaps they did something with them.. either way Z1 will be getting some money from me soon :)

never had them on the bike! the guy hit a fire hydrant going home from the dealer (or so he said) and bent the timing advancer so the bike wouldnt run...bike sat for 2 years and i picked up a complete 79 sr for $150 bucks that came with smoothbores and aftermarket coils, and tapered steering head bearings, so i coulnt really tell you but the guy said it came from a dealership, the key still had the dealers tag when i got it from him. but what else is odd is that its a 650! no work done to it...and they put on smoothies? i dont know much about jetting but i think they are 115 mains if i remember correctly and from what i have read 105 mains should work for the 650...

The fact that you got a bike with a set of smoothbores for $150 tells me that they didn't know what they had. It probably never ran like that. I don't know what would happen if you tried running it with no air jets but I'm telling you that there is a major restriction missing in that circuit if the jet isn't there. It can't possibly be good.
