So I think we all know this plug is no longer available... I'm looking for other people's workarounds.

The workaround I'm currently attempting is a dab of RTV over the pilot plug hole. I like it because it's easy to peel off... but I know it's not the ideal material for fuel soaked application. I'll be taking the float bowl apart again after putting about 3 weeks and 90 miles on it with this fix. I guess we'll see how it worked.

I suppose one could widdle a plug from a hunk o plastic... O-rings are easy to come by.

What's your workaround?

I haven't tried purchasing from Kawasaki.com, but I will now. However my dealer can't get it, ronayers can't get it, bikebandit can't get it... and all the forum threads I've seen say it's no longer available. (ie kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...ew&catid=3&id=263258 )

If you go to the Kawasaki.com websight and look up your bike it states that it is available in limited quantity. Otherwise look up arebuild kit for your carbs and I think you will see it in there. Otherwise you can also use a test tube stopper in the hole just cut it to length.

If the Kawi plugs are discontinued, the plugs for the GS 1000/1100 Suzukis' will work as well.

Those are the ones I have in my BS34s - they are not a perfect fit as they are slightly too large at the bottom of their taper, but once the float bowls are installed that's not a problem.

Got mine from Z1E, just below $10 for a set of four:

I'll try the McMaster stoppers next... hopefully they can withstand soaking in fuel. Rather than waiting for them to ship, I went to Sears Hardware and found a test tube stopper that fit. It swelled to 3x its size while soaked in fuel and blocked the travel of my float. One rich condition traded for another :(

Z1 is currently out of stock for the suzuki version.

If the McMaster stoppers dont work, I might just tap the hole and and use a threaded plug or machine screw with some sealant on the threads.

Nope, $9.57 is for one 4-pack - hard to beat $7.16 for 50 though..

The stoppers are made out of EPDM. This is not Great for Gasoline but is OK your other choice is to get an "O" ring that has a 1/4 " cross section and cut it up for these plugs. I have done that also. If you get Viton or Nitrile (Buna-N) it will be as good as OE. Viton would be the best. If you don't want to trust the stoppers than make them out of this. 9029K12

Perhaps not feasible for this application, but sometimes a hole may be plugged with a small round fish line lead weight, by just mashing it down inside the hole.

Good Fortune! :)
