Found the carb jet kit on e-bay.... Maybe will help...

The ribbed carb bodies are listed there as well for the KZ650... My KZ650 manual depicts OEM as VM24s...

Yep, those are them.

Can you suggest some settings? I adjust my floats to 22mm (including the gasket) as another member suggested, and they still leak like crazy.

Here are my settings for these carbs:
102.5 main (biggest that came in my rebuild kit)
2nd needle clip

EDIT: - Answered my own question.

I have the carbs sync'd from the slide height. The pilot screw doesn't seem to affect the syncronization, at least the digital meter doesn't change. Does that mean my slides are too high or something?

The spark plugs are finally a tan brown, no longer black and fouled. It's actually running really good now, but it bogs a bit when I go to give it some juice. Once, the revs are a bit higher it's got quite a bit of power.

Sugesstions?

Yeah, I'll try the 3rd clip for the needle jet.

I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada, btw (I remember someone asking me before).

Does anyone know if a vacuum fuel valve will stop the carbs from leaking out? They spilled a full tank of fuel all over the garage....again (after I thought they were fixed).

Perfectly functioning carbs will maintain correct fuel level in float bowls with engine off and petcock allowing fuel flow.

Fuel escaping from the overflow circuit results from excess fuel getting through the fuel valve for whatever reason. Reasons may include:
--- insufficient seal between float needle and seat orifice (dirt, grit or wear)
--- incorrect float height
--- sticking float
--- improperly installed float
--- damaged float
--- leaking float
--- cracked overflow tube

A properly functioning manual petcock in OFF position or vacuum petcock in ON or RES position, with engine not running, prevents fuel flow to the carbs, thereby serving as a fail-safe to prevent possibility of excess fuel getting through the fuel valve for whatever reason noted above.

But such properly functioning petcock does not "cure" the imperfectly functioning carb.

Good Fortune! :)

One of the most common reasons for fuel escaping from the overflow circuit is crud or grit at the interface where the pointed tip of the float needle presses into the orifice in the float needle seat.

It's at this point that cleanliness and fit are essential.

And a primary reason to assure fitment of a good accessory aftermarket inline fuel filter. The oem petcock screens are helpful, but are by themselves woefully inadequate for this purpose.

Also remember that float needles and their seats are married for life, and should not be mixed and matched incident to carb work.

Sometimes the float valve in a freshly assembled dry carb might leak when first exposed to incoming fuel, evidenced by fuel from its overflow circuit. This condition may often be remedied while the engine is running by rapping smartly against the float bowl with a plastic mallet or screwdriver handle.

Good Fortune! :)

Ok, I'll try those tips, thanks guys. I'll also get a fuel filter.

If no avail, I'll let you guys know.

Unfortunately, many freshly cleaned pristine carbs have been instantly re-contaminated by the first onslaught of incoming fuel which hasn't first passed through a good in-line filter.

Z1E carries the in-line filters, as do most all bike shops and dealerships.

Thanks old man rock for the link.

GREAT SITE!!

I FINALLY found a number that sounds more feasible for the float levels, 30mm. I had them around there before and they didn't leak.
