I just noticed that you are running only a 998 motor with no head work with the exception of the cams. Your vacuum will be quite low. I know mine was when I had the stock CSR motor. Also make sure that your diaphragms are sealing properly.

Sorry but your project and this post have me confused... Which baffle are you tuning to again?

"Full throttle pulls are not as powerful as I thought they would be, it's basically just a continuation of a half throttle pull..."...

This is basically the correct operation!
Is the pull linear, does it op on accelration or deceleration, is there a lull or hesitiation in this RPM range... If not, your just about right, maybe a jet size but close...

As for your mid range, at a constant 5Krpm, is it skipping as if starving of fuel/semi blocked fuel filter or a constant RPM purr... If skipping, richen up your needle clip position.

Then go after the idle and slow RPM range...

I am tuning to the diy baffle, and I am yet to wrap it, I will do that in the next couple days. There is no stutter at the full throttle transition, but when I hit full throttle it just keeps accelerating at the same rate it did when it was at half throttle, it should pull harder no? at constant 4 or 5 thousand rpm there is no stuttering or anything, but when I do a half throttle acceleration from stop (or really slow) it stumbles and fumbles for a second before taking off...

BTW... what does "plugs are white on the tips" mean?

Are you speaking of the band strap... If so, your looking for where the strap color difference is located on the strap, not necessarily color...

And don't fret over TAN insulator coloring... Example here in AZ due to corn enthanols, emission fuel additives, my engine and head port build, not going to happen....

Gunson... Yes and here's why....

We see it all the time, I have my pilot/slow jet/air screws out 1.5 turns... Well that's a good starting point indeed but to truly dial in EACH carb they may and most likely will be different once dialed in...

3 Step procedure for each pilot/slow jet setting as depicted in the chart....

1) Idle Speed
2) Gradual Increase of Throttle
3) Rapid Twist of the Throttle

See that's the key, they're not all going to be 100% the same! ;)

Example, my CR specials, start at 1 turn out, follow the 3 step tweak and one may be at 1.25 turns, another @ 1.4 turns, another @ 1.5 turns etc... They all don't come out exactly the same...

Same in carb sync... Bench sync using the drill bit method height for starting heights... Want the throttle valves 50/50 for equal adjustements either way... When your all done, they will be slightly diff or a couple mm in height off original settings or between each other...

It's just the way it is...

Same as mentioned what works on my build isn't going to be right for yours... Way too many variables...

Before i give you a current plug dis/coloration I should check it after yesterdays riding. First time I checked it the base ring was black (left over from when I first got the bike running) but the strap electrode was white. I will get a new set of plugs again and get a mid range throttle plug chop. If I keep the bike at 5000 rpm in say 3rd gear and cruise for 5 minutes that way it would be mostly all jet needle right?

Im almost sure that the dynojet kits jets are not the same size as a mikuni jet - numbers will be different.
