went to buy pilots and mains and the parts kid said he has never seen a carb like this. is he clueless or is this special.. there is a red plug blocking off one of the pilots and the other one he said was an "exciter??"..
george recommended that I get #140 mains and #42 pilots.so I am at a loss as to what to buy.series 21 or 22 ????

this can't be a useful pilot because the red plug is blocking fuel,, right????

Hi jim
The carb in the photo looks like a Keihin. Dont know what size but I have Keihin CV34s on my 750 and that plug is supposed to be there. My plugs are white. Fuel for the pilot jet comes through a channel or connection with one of the other jet passages. If you remove those plugs the bike will run like crap if it runs at all. If you go to www.kawasaki.com owner info and parts diagrams you will see the plugs

I dont know where you would get the little pilots.....dont think they are made anymore but you can get the 140s at www.Z1enterprises.com Go to their site and type Keihin in the search box

Disregard everything above if the carbs are not Keihins:laugh:

the next problem is that the pilot seems to be a keihin N424-25B except that this part is 15mm long and the one in my carbs are 19mm long.. anyone got a lead on ones that are #42 and 19mm long.

Jim are those carbs from a kawa? There similar to a Honda ive been working on, kehin carbs as well. There was a rubber plug on the same passage you have your red plug. Manual called this a "slow jet", not a pilot jet. Manual refers to Pilot SCREWS not a jet. But we know these as pilot jets, and if your having a problem with either getting gas to that carb or running bad on one cylinder, thats your culprit. If your having trouble finding the jets, maybe you have to look for them under slow jets? Carb guru's correct me if im wrong?

they are the ones off of my kz1000. I was told my carbs were not rebuildable so the guy that was going to fix it might have given me a different set of carbs..
but , boy yours sure look like the ones I have. is yours a cv34?? even if they are from a different brand bike they are still keihin ,,so I should be able to find the pilots. I can get the #140 mains but the thing is that I still need the jets . like I said the one they have is 15mm and mine is 19mm..one guy I talked to at a shop refered to it as a slow jet too.
I was hoping wiredgeorge would chime in. he was going to do my carbs but he has a 6-8 week turn around. and its running me a small fortune per week in gas..

wiredgeorge wont be here for a while. He posted recently in the dealer section. Check that forum. Best way to get a hold of him would be to use the forum on his site.

Regarding those little pilot jets I dont think you can get them anymore. If anywhere then try sudco.com

Hi, long time no post but I will try to help you in your situation. Fist off, wired gorge recommended 140 secondary mains and 70 primary main jets for Keihin CV34 carbs (I think) for 4 into 1 exhaust and pod air filters. I think other carbs have pilot jest that are still replaceable. Now I am not for sure but I don’t think they make a replacement pilot jets that reside under the plastic plug. The only ones that I found to be replaceable were the primary and secondary mains. Now I am still green so don’t shocked it I am wrong. Sorry for the crude higlights, but the blue is the secondary main jet, the red is the primary main jet, and finaly the yellow is the plastic cap with the pilot jet under it.
