hrmm well the magnets do have the white line but they are identical. so I do not see how both of them could have the white stripe to the plate.
I can set the magnet where both white dots are on the right pickup coil (red-yellow wire)
so the top magnet will have the white stripe out and the bottom magnet will have the strip to the plate.
Gonna put it back on and see.

You're right. I just opened up a different one.
Let me go check some others.

Sorry about that.

EDIT:
I changed the page so the polarity can be confirmed through using a voltmeter instead of using the stripes/dots as the polarity test.
Details here:

Also, on the other site, Corey mentioned the bowl breathers. You should have two hoses. One between carbs 1 and 2, and the other between 3 and 4. Those should not get capped. They run up to the area under the tank near the airbox opening, and just sit there.

Um. at very loose guess, its not running fuel rich on the float height is it? And you do have good seals on the carb mounts and airbox tubes ?

Guys, I appreciate all the dialogue goin' on. All this stuff is definitely out of my area. I appreciate all of the work that mstbones has put into my bike, I know he is getting very frustrated and wants it out of his garage. Keep the ideas comin! thanks

new carb holders, new intake boots.. fuel level not too high. Now the starter is not turning the bike over its missing a tooth or something. Travis is looking to see if this starter is used on dif bikes.
thanks for all the advice guys.

Battery was new last season, and tests every time at just over 12 volts.

loudhvx... I tried the magnet. .change and wow .. no good. Wouldnt even start.. had to tow bike.. never started.. Put the magnets the opposite way..
white dot on top over red/yellow and white dot on bottom under blue/black.
It still starts with choke and will somewhat warm up but will never take any throttle.
Could the needle cause this? or is it more likely this electrical problem.

That seems wrong. With the magnet polarity reversed, you'll still get spark, but at the wrong time. I suspect you have several things reversed on the ignition. Notice, in the magnet-polarity thread, there is a post decribing the wiring of the entire ignition. That should be verified.
You are saying the white stripes are facing out, Correct? That is definitely backwards from all of my pickup assemblies. I have 6, and only the one had one magnet backwards. Two sets are on running bikes. But it can still work at idle when backwards under certain conditions.
Let's start with the crank position. With 1 and 4 just before TDC (advancer at F), the ignition rotor should be pointing backwards toward the blue/black pickup (the blue/black pickup is toward the rear of the bike). (The crank and pickups rotate the same direction as the wheels.)
If this is not right, don't try to start the bike. We'll need to correct it.
Because the old advancer was frozen, somebody may have altered things to compensate, not knowing the real problem. You will have to rectify those mistakes as well.
