Before commencing synch work, would suggest (1)assuring no air leaks and (2)determining which if any individual cylinder is responsible for the ultra-high idle. Synching is usually one of the last tune-up procedures after everything else (ignition, spark, timing, compression, valve lash, any necessary internal carb adjustments and cleaning, etc.) is correct.

Doubtful, as jet needle has negligible effect at idle speed which is based almost entirely on the pilot circuit. Jet needle becomes effective as the throttle opens.

hey patton,
well i tried to crank it up, wouldnt stay running. im in the process of tracking a short, no power anywhere. i have gone over the carb intake boots, and checked to make sure there are no cracks, everything looks good, if i could have kept it going i could have done the spark plug check. ill try that during the week.

The leaks of most concern are in connections between carbs and engine (not in the carb intake boots between the carbs and airbox). Recall the spray test earlier mentioned (requires a running engine).

Hello, have you check if your slides are sticking or seated properly? Even a tiny increase in the slide opening causes the engine to race.
