Spark Plug Hole Thread Repair was created by daveo
Time-Sert time.

#3 spark plug hole is the culprit, and two others seem likey to become problems too.  May as well do them all while I'm at it

Which insert material is the best choice to use for a trouble free and permanent fix?

Need Time-Sert inserts and kit.  Only need four inserts made specifically for 3/4" spark plug thread length.
No desire to use aluminum inserts.  Steel inserts would work, but steel may/may not be the best material choice.

Würth aka Wurth Time Sert is the best.

    M14 x 1,25 inserts are available in 7,0 / 8,0 / 9,4 / 11,0 / 15,0 / 16,8 mm length.

Eleven years ago I used a helicoil on cylinder two with the cylinder head in situ. No problems at all and bike is still going strong.

Helicoil R513-10, 3/4" reach.  Would that be the correct length to use?

If the Helicoil fails, will a standard (NOT Big-Sert) M14 x 1.25 Time-Sert insert work to replace it?

Or...is the Helicoil Sav-A-Thread 5334-14 kit insert a better choice?

First time my head came off  I put sparkplug inserts in .
Knowing how anal my buddies and I were with our Kaws it made sense.
We were always tuning , checking , and changing  parts on our scooters to keep our edge over the rest of the Detroit crowd.
plugs to us were and still are a disposable commodity  in the search for a tenth advantage in a race
    Happy Memorial Day Weekend

Helicoil, Time-sert, or special spark plug insert, all will hold the spark plug in place if done correctly.

One question though: is heat transfer to the plug affected by the metal sleeve type inserts?  I suspect it changes things, but maybe not enough to matter?

Time Sert inserts are copper plated for the heat transfer.
