That head looks to be a real beauty! Those intake ports look massive! Don't like the look of those exhaust studs though. It's not the look per se, it's the corrosion. Best use a liberal dose of anti seize on those threads.

For the price it seems like a really nice job was done on the porting and valve job, and the guy was easy to work with. He claims thirty years of experience, which is evident. The new power sensation is undeniable.
It feels like the engine is leading the transmission for a change, and the gears shift with a simple click. Can't recall that happenening much with consistency before.
The exhaust fasteners are stainless flange nuts. They came off easily with little effort. I applied a coat of engine oil on the stud threads before reinstalling the nuts.

Yes, indeed!
It is a beautiful thing.
P.S. It's loud, and that's with the stock baffle wrapped and packed solid. With the 2160 baffle, it's "good morning everybody" a half mile away, regardless the time of day.

Before it would come on stronger at 7k and peak at 8.5k then pull the same after that. Now it starts at 6k and peaks at 9k and keeps pulling to 11k where I shut it off for the next gear.

Re: 84 ZN1100 Cylinder Head Upgrade?
04 Dec 2021 21:10This old girl's engine feels like it could handle that, but the Dyna 2K limiter is set at 9500 for my sanity sake.
I always try to "ride the piss out of it" nicely, but fail miserably for the most part.

05 Dec 2021 00:10Its hard to ride the piss out of any 1100 really, especially a tough one, you run out of room real fast and accidents happen far quicker....!!!

05 Dec 2021 08:41Gotta maintain wits, and avoid peripheral distractions. I've also learned to NOT put the side-stand down before coming to a complete stop, among other things. Its hard to ride the piss out of any 1100 really, especially a tough one, you run out of room real fast and accidents happen far quicker....!!!

06 Dec 2021 09:39 - 07 Dec 2021 13:13Intake runners were opened up some and smoothed out to meet the stock 34mm port openings. The exhaust side received the same treatment. That head looks to be a real beauty! Those intake ports look massive! Don't like the look of those exhaust studs though.
