Cylinder head
08 Aug 2020 18:56
I have a 81 kz650 csr h1. So I over tightened a bolt. Snap! Fucked up the hole when i drilled it out. Might be able to make it work cause its not so bad. Wondering if 80 kz650 ltd cylinder head will work if bought?

Not sure. Some of the 80 models use the hyvo cam chain and some did not. But all of the 81 models did make use of the hyvo cam chain. Offl the top of my head I do not remember if the LTD used this type of cam chain or not. That is the thing I would suggest you look into.

It most likely will. When you have an existing head with everything your options are good. You can just bolt you cams and running gear from your old head into the new - if it runs a different chain type. Then main thing to consider is whether your head has the four holes threaded for the sprocket between the cams - if so - you need to find one that has this as well.

Lets clear this up.
The post is about head interchangeability, but while i had others responding about that i thought maybe i could ask about the carb issue i was having because the few post i got about the heads answered that question.
Sorry it was confusing and i tried to upload a video of the the bike running to give you all a better understanding of what im seeing
Sorry about the confusion

If the hole you messed up is now too big for a helicoil. You might get away with a time-sert. Important thing when installing a time-sert is using a guide for drilling and tapping to keep it perpendicular to the surface. Some of the kits don't come with the guide. Why? I have no idea.

I was able to use a helicoil. But i didnt keep the hole totally perpendicular. I found if i use a slightly shorter bolt im able to tighten up. So im good in the regard.
Thanks
