Oil sight glass was created by Ojisan rider
Aloha guys.

Just as the title reads, anyone changed the sight glass for the oil/clutch cover?

Reason why I'm asking is that I recently did glass beading/blasting on my KZ parts and yeah, clutch cover been blasted as well. Now, the glass doesn't look too good and I want to replace it. I just want to make sure it's a simple remove/replace job.

If you have any advice, I'd appreciated. And if you need to see the result of glass beading, hit me. I do have some pictures of it. If you're rebuilding anything, I'm a firm believer of glass beading now. It does not remove enough materials from aluminum. Which means you need some time and patient.

BTW, don't ask me about my 7 project. I need to find me a new paint guy........................

Depending on the clutch cover type the window assembly simply presses in and out like an oil seal.
On some covers it has to come out from the front but others it will press out either way.

Carefull. Pit Stop Performance put mine in backwards and you couldn't read the level. Had to replace and install correctly. Pushes in and out easily like a seal. Lube with oil first.

This is a curious statement as I have to use a socket of the appropriate size as a driver. The back of the oil sight glass is a metal mesh type affair so not sure how Pit Stop Performance could put one in backwards. I often take a dremel with a cut off wheel and remove the mesh stuff in back as I see no purpose. It is easier to clean the glass and see the oil with that mesh gone.

I carefully used my thumbs and pushed mine out and in my new ribbed cover years ago. I bent the mesh slightly so I can clean the glass with a Q tip and carb spray. I was going to buy a new one from Z1E until I saw the cost. Some day.

The J engine clutch cover has a backing to the glass with a slot in it. The glass can go in either way, but it's off-set, so when in backwards it's up tight against the slotted backing which screws the reading. I replaced it, but after removal I could have just turned it around and put it back in. No damage.

Thanks guys.

never thought to do a search as clutch cover window. Guess when you do the search, you have to use your imagination to full.

Anyway, yes. I'm ordering one soon.
