I suspect whatever is gumming up is not the fuel itself, but whatever was dissolved in the fuel after the fuel vaporized away. My buddy was using some sort of blue fuel line. After sitting for the winter, his bowls were gummed up with blue gunk, the same color blue as his fuel lines. After we changed to standard, black, rubber fuel lines, he never had that problem again.
