Heading up to the high desert for Kayla's birthday. Good trial for the clutch. I'll check in later.

This guy followed me about 5 miles at a discreet distance. Wife and kids in the car. Not only did I not realize this was a race, but I didn't roll it on all the way then I shifted too late. It was getting hairy so I backed off. These modern FI cars will surprise you.

What I really need is a 903 crank. The 750 one detuned it some. :(

Update; It's been about 500 miles now and the only negative thing I can say is when up shifting I have to release the lever quicker or I wind up speed shifting a little. Still getting use to the easy pull. I was thinking about a hydraulic set up but that's now way at the bottom of my list.
I'm focusing on my swing arm mod now. Ordered a rear sprocket but the seller sent it the cheapest way possible. They can't find me and I'll be damned if I'll drive to FONTANA to pick it up. Maybe Monday.

Funny!

I think all of us have been caught with our revs down when a fast-ish car pulls a surprise challenge like that. All the AT transmission car pilot has to do is mash the accelerator pedal and go...while we are madly trying to drop three or more gears to get to the power....

That is one thing I shouldn't enjoy about my R1 out on the clear open highway. Even when the car gets a jump on me while I'm cruising in sixth gear, it only takes one shift and about 10 seconds for "Rocket 1" to blast from 65 mph up to 160+ mph...nice try - car guy, but - Bye-Bye! :woohoo:

Yeah my 16/35 gearing didn't help either. My 15 should be here tomorrow. I'll bet it would have turned out different.

A 30- ish yuppie type in an Audi R-8 absolutely smoked me from 50 mph while I was riding my '81 KZ1000CSR. I was casually riding home in top gear when he pulled up beside and got on it. By the time I dropped to 3rd, he already was two and a half car lengths in front, and I just kept losing ground until I quit at about 110 mph (in the city, damn it!). Yep, he got me - BAAAAAADDDDD!

About a month later I was on my Yamaha in light traffic on the same 4 lane divided roadway, and saw the same guy ahead of me. He wouldn't even look towards me when I pulled up beside in second gear (redline is 13 750)! Hmmmm,.... at least he knows something about bikes, I thought....
