naw... it doesn't glow.... i read other members saying it smokes the first time you ride....

it was true. By the time I made it to the office, it stopped. It has fiberglass in it. According to the interwebs, they claim its part of the "curing" process. :silly:

What is the purpose of wrapping the pipes? Here's the shims I made for the collars and flanges. Chain link fence tie flattened out.

Mostly for looks. Secondly for protection. I have seen them wrapped, and thought Id give it a go. I'm pleased with the result. I found myself constantly cleaning the pipes and from wheel kick ups they were just getting pretty banged up and pitted. I thought wrapping them behind the front wheel will lengthen the life of the pipe. Thats a great idea on the fence tie. Honestly... when these wraps get too nasty or i just feel like taking the exhaust off again, I will swap in the correct flanges and make it right. Until then. loving my current set up.

The problem with wrapping the pipes, that many have had, is, they hold in moisture & they rust a lot sooner than if they weren't wrapped, & secondly is they hold in heat from the pipes

I think the idea comes from big V8's with tube manifolds suffering from high underbonnet temperatures. Also keeping the exhaust gases hot moves heat away from the cylinder head and out of the tailpipe. Don't like it on cars or bikes :(

I wasn't going to say that. As long as the rider likes it, that's all that matters.
