I like that idea of putting the head back on with something plastic on top of the Pistons and just see if kicking it over will lift the head up taking the cylinders with it

I hesitated to suggest this. I had a problem like this when a guy brought his bike to me. PERMATEX. It's like it was welded together. I carefully took my carpenter chisels and drove them into the gasket material being careful not to deform the areas where the oil galleys were. I used four, one in each corner, then worked my way around. Wound up splitting the gasket in two sheets. Then I had the problem of getting the Permatex/gasket off. I used heat and scraping, finally it was clean enough to put back together. I contacted the guy, had him look at it and told him I would use RTV but he had to sign my job order saying I don't guarantee no leaks. It worked and I never heard from him again.

I've done the same Steve but with slightly sharpened 1" wide Hyde drywall knives (with the brass button on the end of the handle)...
kept tapping them in that tiny thin soft spot between the aluminum until something would break free... yikes... some people and that crap Permatex.. WTF?!
Remember in the old days when most valve cover gaskets were cork and some jerk would use Permatex??? Oh Lord.

I wonder if one of those cheap plastic putty knives would work? Maybe it would reduce the chance of damaging the aluminum since the knife is plastic. Ed

Not a chance. I don't like suggesting things like this because because to some people tap means smack, hit it means bash and bop means SMASH. The manual says it quite clearly, if you are having trouble, take it to the dealer. Problem is tho, the dealer will see the gobs of Permatex and send it away.
I remember cork gaskets and the warning, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Hopefully it's just a normal gasket that has been vulcanized and will come apart with a little work.

Hmm I might try the putty knife idea. I did take a box cutter blade and ran along the sides just in case the paint was holding it on.

Would it hurt to tap a chisel or screwdriver in the hole or is it designed as a pry only?
