Hey Im not trying to give you any grief. Just thought maybe if you were in a hurry or wanted to fix it quicker, it was and is an option. I ve got a head sitting doing nothing, but it needs 1 exhaust valve replaced and lapped. No Im not offering or suggesting you but it. Its not for sale. Damn some calm posts and some where you fell off the bus.
Keep cool.

LOL Tri, you always get so fired up. I can't blame you for not wanting to trust a used head. Let us know how the new insert works out. Good piece 9 info to have in case it ever happens to me.

Would definitely try running the tap for the standard insert in first- if you can get threads you might be better off with the smaller insert. The OD on the bigserts is pretty large- used one on my old beater 'yota truck and was thinking the bigsert might possibly interfere with your valve seats. Just a thought.....

You needed one so you bought ten? So, you are just going to leave head on while you drill out the hole and put cert in? How do you keep shrapnel from going in chamber? If it does, how will you remove it? Just curious. I think they did that to my brother's bike that I rode so hard it popped a spark plug (ex 500) was riding wheelies around corners the front end was so light. Pushed it to redline every shift then she popped.
