It's about time to put a new clutch in, what should I get? Should I go for the Barnett? Kevlar or not? I don't beat the crap out of my bike but it should with stand the occasional burnout  Thanks for your opinions!

My 1000 LTD has an APE clutch and springs and it works great. :)

Not too stiff with my new lubed cable I just put on it. I don't beat mine too hard either.

Per Jay at APE the lining is made by the same company
that made the OEM clutch lining.

Have not heard good thing's about using the Barnett clutch's in our KZ's

Best set up is factory oem plates and 10-15% stiffer spring

I would recommend stock clutchs. Espically if you dont beat the crap out of it all the time. Ape does sell good kits, but the APE HD clutches wear on the clutch basket. Not sure about the trac kings never used them. I have run the Hds tho. They did leave marks on my basket, tho i might beat on mine just a little more also. I would also not reccomened the barnett clutches. Stock clutches will take some abuse.

+1 for the stock clutch plates with heavy duty springs. I have tried most and interestingly the feel and longliverty is so much better with the KHI originals :)

I would go stock. Many drag guys use stock plates.

Also soak the new plates in oil for no less than 24 hours.. Use the same oil used in bike.

Don't ever put new plates in dry!

Ditto :woohoo: on OEM clutch plates with H.D. springs or shimmed stock springs.... most racers use stock oem clutch's .... aftermarket clutches seem to need sooner replacement along with other problems .....definitely no to any barnett clutch packs :S :pinch:
