That sounds like a plan. Going to order the parts this week. I'll try to document my progress as I rebuild it.

Would the 365 cams or the 395 cams be better?

Back to you on the GPz Cams.... They are .375 Lift so finding a set of those from 1983-1985 would be half the price of new, and there would be no Break-In time required like with a new set of Cams.

I believe they are .365 Lift but I'll get back to you with a solid number.

Also if you find 28mm Pumper carburetors for your bike, swap the Needles from your 26's which are adjustable, into the 28's which are not adjustable.

All the vm28s for the '79 -'80 KZ1000E that I've seen were adjustable.

Unfortunately the Last 2 sets of 79-80 Pumper Carbs we've cleaned and Jetted, required installation of the Adjustable Needles from 2 sets of Non-Pumper 26's we have laying around.

Same here. I have a set of VM28's off a 1980. They didn't have adjustable needles so I pulled the needles out of my 77 VM26's and put in them.

Not yet. I have Gpz 1100 cams ordered. New rings and a gasket set. . Haven't taken the valves out of the head yet. So im not sure if i need to order anything for the valves. Not sure If I'm gonna get the 28mm's yet. But I've been looking. I might just freshen up the 26mm's if I don't find something suitable.

May want to upgrade the valve springs, as the part # from Kawasaki for the stock motor and the GPZ is different for the valve springs. The motor will Want to rev higher, up to you to when to shift/ stop revving. APE has springs, which I put in mine doing the same GPZ cams.

The GPz Cams will be 2 Bolt Hyvo Chain for the Cam Sprockets. So you'll need a set of Sprockets for the Roller Type Chain to adapt.

Here is a little update on my progress. I've ordered the gpz1000 cams, cam bearings, valves, valve seals, heavier valve springs, dyna ignition, gaskets and seals, and piston rings. While I wait for parts, I am cleaning and painting the frame, rims, calipers, tank and side covers, and polishing whatever needs polishing. HAHA! cant stop now.
