Thanks Jay. So someone had these cams ground by who knows. I don't know the lobe seperation or anything about them.

I will look at them again more closely.

The guy that owned the bike when it was raced was a kawasaki mechanic for years. Both mechanics at the shop usally had their engines built by sonny that is no longer with us.

I really didn't want to tear the engine down but might have to. It has compression out of this world.

The guy I bought it from told me it was a built engine but I didn't pay him no mind as I was wanting other parts off the bike.

Les. I lost the PM. I'll think about it. Roy

Why two head gaskets? I'll have to check the cam chain tower and see what type it is. Roy

If it is a 418 Andrews, it will have a lot of duration for a street motor. Some of the early cam covers had an X cast up underneath them. High lift cams would hit them if they were not ground off. Some used the double cam cover gasket to solve it.

Put a degree wheel on them for valve opening/closing measurements, may give you some idea on the duration...

I'm going to fire the engine.

I couldn't tell if the engine had a cometric gasket on it. How can I tell if the engine is bigger than a 900cc. Can compression tell?

I found a cam cover the has the X's ground off. I don't think they were done by hand!

I might just install the cams in my 1075 engine. I had to sell my 3X cams last year when I was broke and this will put me back on track. I got $255.00 for the 3X and only paid $175.00 for this bike. So that will put me ahead a little.

I didn't find any more markings.

Point the lobe straight up and get a photo from the side. The profile view will give a good indication of ballpark duration.
