creamy white goo on the underside of the oil cap was created by donthaveakawman
 i just changed my oil for the 3rd time in 2500 miles(since June) and now there is a problem, i don't know if it is because the oil filter seal didn't set right and i lost a quart of oil as soon as i started it up (fixed and filled immediately)-
or if it is a problem with me riding it in the rain. all the vacuum hoses seem to be in order, although there is a mild misfire under the seat and im sure the egr might be getting some gas back in it if its backfiring like it is. maybe a valve adjustment is in order. anything i should know if this is my first time on a kz? do the cams have to come up? problem signs i should look for on the cam chain?
here is my guess on how to do this please revise and proofread before i actually get into it
1. pull the gas tank
2.pull the valve cover
3. put a feeler guage between the cam and lifter/follower
4.pull a half of a cam at a time to insert shims under followers/lifters
5. insert correctly measured shim under lifter
6.put it all back together and check for clearance
7. reinstall valve cover vacuum hoses and gas tank
8.warm it up and dont pop a wheelie.

if anyone knows that i would screw this up by any reasonable measurement or if anyone doubts my abilities and feels that i might wreck myself i would really like to know. thanks for your in depth input/help i really dont want to wreck myself.

Am thinking due to condensation resulting from not running long enough to evaporate moisture in the crankcase.

Good Fortune! :)

Yea, don't make white sludge under the cap into a worry. Completely normal unless you happen to live in Hawaii during winter. Cold weather this will always happen in cold weather at least on the air cooled KZs

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

If its a kz with shim on top buckets you dont have to pull the cams to change shims. You can buy a shim tool saves a lot of time and chance of stripping threads or anything like that. but like previously stated dont worry about the white buildup. just run it for a good while to get the moisture evaporated out.

same mounts as a kz mcdroid if the kz had the gpz engine they could rule the world. especially with the shim under bucket tappets.

Year, model and displacement of both bikes is needed before anyone can answer the motor mount question because the KZ came with 1, 2, 4, and 6 cylinder engines from 200 - 1300 cc. The GPz came with a 4 cylinder engine from 550-1100cc and there is an 1100cc water cooled version, too.

The large displacement KZs can be converted to shim under bucket, so you can rule whatever you like without an engine swap.

If you bike has shim under buckets, then the cams have to come out. If you have shims on top, then the cams stay in place. In either case, I'm not sure how you could get half a cam out.

A factory shop manual would be a very wise investment. It will save many time its cost. There may even be somebody around here with an electronic version they'd be willing to share.

i put the stock air filter back in my kz750 h1 it seems like it does much better than the k&n i noticed it is hard to oil the k%n properly.
i guess the gpz has a rubber motor mount on the front that i read about in the
www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/kawasaki...aki_gpz750f%2085.htm
website
along with the antidive forks, hmmm why dont i just try to get a title for the parts bike?
