Burt Monroe reportedly cast parts in old tins (although one American report has him casting pistons in holes in the sand at the local beach) and made his own barrels, flywheels, pistons, cams and followers.

If I recall, John Britten had some good luck casting parts at home. You know, engines and stuff.:)

John Britten is sort of a different story.

Though, Im sure if he made the part in question, he would machine it on a VM.

And the phrase "at home" I had hope (you) would infer "no special tools" in my statement, as the conversation went, if you followed it, which Im 100% sure most people do not have a foundry at their home.
