yes thats what im saying . after 55-60 u would think by hearing it i was doing 90-100
Well, that's just something you have to get used to. The bike has a small motor and don't produce a bunch of power, so it has to turn high rpm tp get you down the road.
Ear plugs and a helmet help out
I think your bike might do 85 to maybe 90 wide open, and at that speed the tach would probably be on the redline.

Good call I think... Question is: What RPM is the bike turning @ 50mph?
My KZ1000 turns 2750rpm in top gear @ 60mph, and thats with a bumped up sprocket.
I'm guessing with a tiny bike like that, you're pushing 4000rpm?
It's fairly easy to figure out the bikes top speed/redline in 5th - do the math.

Wait... you can do 2750 at 60 on your KZ1000? how come mines at like 3-4000 RPM at that speed, top gear? WTH:D mines probably geared differently.

well when i get on the highway i hit fifth and around 55-60 mph my tach is only around 6k and the redline dont start till maybe 9k and it just seems like it struggles
Sounds like maybe the clutch is slipping? Have you adjusted it? Definitely get a manual; you really can't own one of these bikes without it. Check eBay for a Kawasaki factory service manual for your year/model. Ed

I was thinking the bike was geared low to make up for lack of power and around town hooligan-ing. compare your sprockets to stock, if you plan on commuting on the highway you might want to change your gearing.
My 900 is at 4000rpm doing 70mph with stock gearing. I'm going to go up one tooth on the front sprocket to bring those R's down a bit.
It's weird, because my 2000 ZX6R absolutely loved the highway. I could literally cruise at 100mph and not feel like I was wringing out the engine.

Wow!! I think I'm turning low 4000 somewhere at 60 mph with 17/37 gearing on my 750. Since I have been unable to ride it since last year I'm not saying anything with certainty. That's about to change though!!!

Thats on my 81 CSR 1000, on the 79 LTD 1000 its more like 4k.
