thanks Terry,
will the Kerker allow retention of centre stand? I know it allows filter access.

Depending on the particular 4>1 exhaust system involved, am thinking a center-stand "stop" when retracted may be fabricated. ;)

But some folks are put off by the look of a retracted center-stand sticking out the left side like some kind of mutated appendage.

Good Luck! :)

I was severely "PUT OFF" by one.......I'm talking big time high side...air born....heluva crash type of "put off" one time on a GS1100..

On the 900/1000.I don't think so, although I've never tried because I don't use the center stand.

With both oil maintenance and center stand being a requirement your driving into custom land or going back to OEM style. Check Klasmo or other online distributors for ideas. These and other options are out there...This found for 1100 ST and other KZ 900 1100 range.
BSM looks to have a bunch of options.

My '78 KZ 1000 A2 has a 4-1 Kerker header and has oil filter access and retains the center stand with no problems. If you buy a new pipe, it should come with the bracket to keep the center stand from retacting up into the drive chain.

My brother's '76 KZ 900 also had a 4-1 Kerker header with the center stand intact. No problems.

Well thanks for all your help guys, looks like Kerker or Supertrap is what i am looking for.

Gman & Trianglelaguna, what SUPERB examples of "golden oldies". Mine is clean and orignal except for the paint work.

Looks like more shopping in the future. I am just waiting at the moment on a "new" Larry Cavanaugh head and some smooth bores from Z1E which have killed my shopping budget for a while now!

Merry Christmas to all,
Kt

Craig's reply reminded me of another thing in my setup I should mention regarding under chassis to ground clearance.

Regarding my conversion 17" rims compared to the OEM 19/18" rims, I lost a couple inches of ground clearance.
I have the Michelon Road Pilot 2 tires...

With the Kerker installed, I have ~ 4"-5" clearance directly underneath (pending the exhaust tubing location) you measure from)...

Not much clearance so for speed bumps and such, hit it at angles or avoid as much as possible... In the phoenix area, most speed bumps have a cut away in the divider striping, so I ride in between at this point avoiding the bump.... ;)

Thanks for the input OMR, i really appreciate all your help. I can live with the speed hump issue, what i cant live with it the rear wheel being lifted off the ground at full lean over to the right! It gets scarey and DANGEROUS. I will go for the Kerker for sure, will have to save some $$$ though.

Cheers,
Kt.
