Keep or ditch kickstarter? was created by savedrider
My bike is already far from an original or restoration and that's not really the look I'm going for. I'm more into the drag/cafe/streetfighter styling.

Should I just ditch it to save the weight and for a better appearance? Will it actually start the bike in a pinch if the battery were dead or starter died?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Keep.... Best of both worlds...

Bud with a new Triumph thumper, wish he had one for nostalgic reasons... No go from Triumph, not an option....

Yes, the only major current changes are the short chrome front fender and a corbin gunfighter seat.

I'll try to post a more recent pic.

imho, i would keep the kicker...good insurance if something went south...doesnt weigh crap.....you can have low voltage that wont turn starter , but that same voltage will start the bike with kicker and get you home or at least you can put the bike somewhere safe untill you can get it home via another means.....

Trust us ok...

That KZ900 (unknown engine mods) doesn't even know that kicker weight is even there.... Seriously, for weight, why bother removing where you may just need it sometime plus it's old school technology, new bikes don;t even offer this any longer...

If for looks/aesthetics reasoning, then your call...;)

Keep it. The first signs of battery failure the kicker will get you going when the starter won't. Unless you don't mind push starting it if the time comes.

Keep...cuz it is sooo cool to see a finely tuned bike getting kicked over on one stroke and riden away.

Wish I had one on my 750.

I vote to keep it also. Hope you never have to rely on it but if you ever do, you will be glad it's there. Besides, it doesn't really make much difference if you take it out, so leave it in for insurance!

Besides, flip it out, perfect toilet roll holder!

Seriously, I don't see where it takes anything anything away from your street fighter look. Personally I think it adds something to it... ;)

Now buff out that motor.... lol!
