popping on decell could also be a faulty air injection system.
+1 on a good cleaning then using compressed air to make sure all the passages are clean.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

So heres the latest on my carbs. Spent the weekend cleaning these and man they were nasty!!! I let them soak Saturday night and cleaned every orfice with a guitar string. Found a few clogged jets and lots of gummed up passages. So now the carbs are so clean I could drink beer out of them, if it wasn't for the toxic cleaners I used in them. Hopefully I'll get these on tonight and everything goes well.
I'll keep you updated.

It really sounds like the idle circuits are still not flowing like they should - hence the lean condition at idle and popping at closed throttle. Since the pilot jets are so very small, it does not take much to stop them up. I have cleaned the jet itself with carb cleaner and some tiny wires. From these jets, the fuel goes over to the adjustable idle mixture screws, where the amount of air and fuel are balanced by adjusting the screw. Past this, the fuel goes into the throat of the carb.

I have seen cases where the pilot jets were clean, the air adjustment screw cavity was clean, BUT THE TRANSFER PASSAGE FROM THE PILOT JET TO THE AIR SCREW IS PLUGGED. I would be willing to bet that this is what is wrong in your case. If this is true, then the adjustment screws will not seem to make any difference when they are turned. If the pilot jet is removable, then do so very carefully - get a screwdriver that fits the groove exactly so you won't round off the brass groove and not get the jet out. Then spray carb cleaner into the pilot jet orifice at full force, plus blast compressed air into it, hoping the material will dislodge and flush on through.

If the jet is not removable, then spray cleaner into the jet, then compressed air. Repeat about 1000 times, keeping your fingers crossed. Perhaps someone else will chime in with a better method. Good luck.
