Looks like I'll have mine tomorrow or Tuesday. Hoping the wind shield will help with the noise. Just put on a new rear tire this morning. Shinko Tour Master 130/90 X 18. Has a harder rubber compound down the center for mileage. Fourth tire in two years come August. Not much choice for vintage bikes. Switching tires and cleaning carbs were my bread and butter in the day. I can still do it without pinching but it's a pain in the ass now. 91 F today by noon. It's still supposed to be cool this time of year. Hope this is no indication of what summer will be like. Ready to ride and catch squids on video.

I can't give you an exact figure, my odometer stopped at 87000 miles 15 years ago. I tried to fix it, the plastic worm gear is stripped. Tach. stopped working all together. I always averaged 4500-5000 a rear tire or 3 to 1 front. That's with my higher gearing. Maybe that's the problem.
Z1partsinc. has new Tach and speedo's for $275 and I want to buy them but not at the top of the list. Some guy wants $299 for a 130 MPH speedo touting it's for a Z1/KZ 900/1000 and another wants $399 for a 80MPH one NOS. I asked on the first ad why his speedo only reads 130 when real Z1/ KZ 900's go to 160. It's there for all to see. I hope they have to sit on them for a long time.
When they won't deal out in the open, they're generally a crook.

Update;
Just got a response to my question on the 130 speedo. He said it's for a 1976 Police model. It does have 1 MPH increments so I believe that to be true. He changed his ad so now it's $199 plus $8 and change shipping, my question is gone.
That illustrates my point. He lowered the price and changed the ad because someone called him on it in public.

Oh, my cam arrived in San Bernardino at 8:00 last night. It might be here today. We'll see.

off of op's topic but what is the thread pitch, center dia, outer dia. and length of the worm gear supposed to be? I have a buddy and we could try to 3d print one for you if you are interested. I would have to bring price up with him.

Keep it rubber side down everyone :)

That's an interesting offer but I've had my eye on new ones for $275 as a set.
Old one

New ones

Tack is shot now too. I'll save my money and buy these.
Thanks anyway.

It's 81,000 not 87,000 miles. Got to be a lot more than that. Who gives a ST.

eBay says the cam is out for delivery. :woohoo: :woohoo:
Now where's those squids?
Saturday is the bicycle rally. 1000 or more air heads coming down Dillon road with no shoulder. Double yellow lines so can't pass them, 4 and 5 abreast, standing in the road blocking traffic both ways, pissing off everyone for charity. More of that later.

Got the cam. Now I need to learn how to use it. Also need a lanyard in case it wants to fall off the bike. Going to Walmart to find a TF card. Won't record without one.

Got a card at Walmart. 16GB. Rode to my the job then to town. Sound wasn't in sync with the video. No wind noise but the exhaust sound doesn't sound like my bike. Guess it is being bounced back by the bags and then the windshield. I changed the settings so the frames and sound pauses every three seconds. This is starting to PISS ME OFF. The instructions are vague, Picture is good, sound is good, I just have to figure out how to make everything work. Recorded about an hour, some prick in a work truck was hogging the line and sneering at in his mirror. Found a opening and passed him and two cars ahead of him. JERK. Not ready yet.

Steve - mine took a bit of experimenting to get a better picture - the highest settings actually made for a worse video (my cam anyway).Try the standard ones if you can.
16 Gig SDMicro can store about 2 1/2 hours of FullHD 1920 x 1080 before filling up (about 1 gig - 10 minutes Full HD). I reckoned that was plenty.
Video will be a lot better once you run it through editing/conversion software.
When you format your card do it - ExFat 32 file system and 32 kb allocation unit size and cam will record until you press stop otherwise it will record in about 3 - 4 gig chunks i think it is - dont quote me on that one but should be damn close,
Happy caming, Mick. :)
