I'm with you there Grumpy.

I like that lock Ed, but he has a drum brake though so a big hard lock around the sprocket is the next best thing.

Insurance isn't helping with the towing.

Zach is still trying to get it out of hock , red tape and haggling over the price , he should have it today hopefully.
Someone he knows from his forum ( Bay City Riders) I think,is going to help him haul it back to Berkeley.

He was able to get some shots, it looks like the thief liked the center stand trick too because it seems to still be there, pretty stripped down though.
Thankfully they left the engine guards on, I hope it's not too beat.
JD

This is not over!

Just read this....I am SO happy for you that she turned up in (pretty much) one piece!
8 bills sure sounds high as Hell to me...Double trouble...Being punished for someone elses' misdeeds simply doesn't seem just or fair......I can only imagine what you are going through...Thieves suck! It can be hard to let go of visceral shit like that (for me anyway!) I wish you peace, and an intact bike for your boy! now if the Berkley PD can only GET the bastard.... :woohoo:

Thanks Forrest, it's gotten much better.

A little update: Zach was able to talk them down to 400 bucks and a member ( Gwynne) from " Bay area riders forum" or BARF as they are known met him at the storage place and trailered the bike back to Berkeley , not only would she not take any money for the help but B.A.R.F. took up a collection to help with the fees, thank you folks!

There are a lot of good people out there helping him out and it seems that Berkeley PD dropped the ball on getting the word out so he is filling a complaint and the costs may be reimbursed .

There is more to the story but I don't want to say anything else just yet .

It's good to see him smiling,

JD

The young lad has a big smile on his face indeed! I'm glad for him. I can see it was stirpped, but wondering why the replace the body parts with the black ones? Or maybe those are the original ones and he rattle bombed in order to disguise the bike. Anyhow, the bike still looks good, the engine, forks and everything else still sparkle. It would be a great ending if they can catch the guy.

Right On !!! Now, THAT is a happy picture! If that is his original tank....
Ya GOTTA get back to that pretty factory Blue! I have posted this before, but....
If the scumbag used a rattle bomb, your boy can use "easy off" oven cleaner to soften/remove the aerosol enamel without hurting the underlying factory lacquer.Never done an area that large, but go slow, and once it softens up, it'll come off with a soft, (non scratching) plastic bondo spreader...a little "buffy-buffy", and mebbe a layer of new clear on top.. I'm so happy that your boy got his baby back! Now... Berkley PD....go get the miscreant !!!! ! (And break his spray can trigger fingers, while you are at it!) LOL!
